Grand Hotel Stockholm

“Preserve and update the Grand feeling in a modern version”.
Fifty-six rooms at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm needed a more modern interior without losing their classic period charm. The design idea was a Scandinavian concept of graphic elements in a classical setting with modern overtones. Three colour palettes named “Royal”, “Sand” and “Blond” provided the foundation. The hall is painted in a dark monochrome colour to create the illusion of the coming room spaciously opening up. The contrast was made even more striking by having warm-grey woodwork framing the room with white-painted walls. Photographic art featuring images from the hotel’s architectural legacy reinforced the three colour palettes. Traditional lighting chandeliers were complemented with modern light sources for a more dynamic effect. To maintain Grand’s high standards of quality and to make every room unique DAP has designed and produced a lot of the furniture.
