Villa Nämdö

The family had grown out of their beloved 1970s summer cottage but wanted to preserve the rural, holiday home atmosphere. We advised against replacing the old house with a new, modern one.Instead, we kept the existing timber frame and added another 50 m2, a patio, an outdoor kitchen and a 29 m2 guesthouse. By dividing the building up into several volumes, we preserved its small-scale intimacy. The summer cottage feel that the family asked for was reinforced by four grassed roof ridges and a fifth in the form of a pergola.
